Thank you for your interest in supporting the Los Encinos Docent Association (LEDA).
We will be providing more updates on some recent changes.
Briefly, LEDA is no longer a cooperating association of the California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Angeles District. As focus of the park and DPR Angeles District is looking at a different direction, they decided not to renew the contract.
LEDA remains and will continue.
The Los Encinos Docent Association (LEDA) is a small non-profit with effective community OUTREACH.
For decades, LEDA has raised AWARENESS about hidden gem, Los Encinos State Historic Park (LESHP) in Encino, California.
LEDA’s dedication to promoting KNOWLEDGE about a real-life manifestation of regional history is key to its mission of preservation of and education about this historic site.
LEDA garnering SUPPORT for the park and programs that bring people to park has persisted through challenges over the years.
LEDA’s history of (OAKS) — Outreach, Awareness, Knowledge, Support of Los Encinos State Historic Park, brings it to a future path to expand beyond parameters of California Parks and Recreation Angeles District Cooperating Association contracts.
Natural hot water spring brought life to the area feeding flora and fauna that provided for people. It is no coincidence that a thriving community developed around this special location. No matter the era, century, or occupants, there is a lot of history all around, and the Los Encinos Docent Association will continue to educate and engage.
History doesn’t change, knowledge about it does. Area history is not limited to 5 acres of a State Historic Park in the middle of the Valley.
We hope you will continue to support LEDA, as we forge ahead taking inspiration from our Encino Historical Society roots, appending OAKS to our mission.
